About

Art has been an integral part of my life. Some of my earliest and fondest memories are of drawing and painting alongside my mom and older sisters, while my dad helped me bring ambitious sculpture projects to life. Creativity runs deep in my family, and I was fortunate to grow up in an environment that encouraged my artistic interests. As I matured, I knew I wanted to pursue art more seriously and make it a central part of my life. After completing my college studies, I moved to New York to intern with the Ellen Frank Illumination Arts Foundation in East Hampton. During the three-month program, I worked closely with fellow interns under the mentorship of Ellen Frank, contributing to some of the earliest paintings in the Cities of Peace series. The experience was both formative and inspiring, deepening my commitment to a professional life in the arts. In 2007, I returned to my hometown in Texas to pursue my passion for art. Since then, I have exhibited throughout the DFW area with collectives including ArtHash, Art Hunger, and ArtLoveMagic. In 2017, I expanded into outdoor festivals with ArtsGoggle. The following year marked a significant milestone when I was selected by Ron English to participate in Surreal Salon 10 at the Baton Rouge Gallery. This achievement is one of the highlights of my career. In 2019, I leaped into full-time artistry. Today, I create from my home studio in Carrollton, Texas, continuing to build a body of work that reflects both my roots and my evolving creative vision.

Artist Statement

Finding the right words to articulate my emotions has never come easily. As an artist, I primarily experience and process the world visually. With a therapist, I’ve explored how my feelings physically look in my mind’s eye versus using emotionally descriptive words. In doing so, I realized I’ve been practicing this form of visual emotional mapping in my art for years. The verbal-emotional disconnection has been a recurring thread in my life. My paintings depict this ongoing journey. With saturated colors and collaged imagery, I create quirky, unconventional environments. These scenes capture the complex, sometimes muddled emotions that accompany my lived experiences and reflect my attempt at embracing individuality. As a surrealist painter, I aim to inspire a celebration of the beauty in being peculiar. Our world is filled with confusing ideas and stereotypes that only gain power when we accept them. I strive to stay open to life’s complexities, resisting the urge to put things into tidy categories. My ultimate goal is to express these ideas in a whimsical, offbeat way that reflects my personality. I draw inspiration from contemporary artists such as Ron English, Casey Weldon, Jim McKenzie, Dorielle Cami, and Hannah Yata.
