I grew up in Fairview Alpha though I am originally from Natchitoches, Louisiana. I got into art at a very young age, falling in love with cartoons and anime. I moved to Coushatta before I hit middle school and stayed until my senior year of high school. I moved again to finish school in Campti.
I graduated from Lakeview Junior-Senior High and immediately went to college soon after. I went to the Northwestern State University of Louisiana for a couple years where I attended nursing courses, joined the Trio SSS and Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society, and worked for the campus newspaper The Current Sauce.
I soon began taking art courses and took a gap year to join AmeriCorps. I did a year of service with City Year in Baton Rouge and returned to college to finish out with a bachelor’s degree in Fine and Graphic Arts. I decided to add Film and Creative Writing minors to gain more experience in storytelling and screenwriting.
While I did another year of work with The Current Sauce, I was fortunate enough to do a public speaking event with the non-profit art organization The Moth on campus, attend the Fall National College Media Convention in New Orleans, and visit Meow Wolf in Grapevine, Texas. I also participated in an art show with my art department at school.
Finally, I did my own art show my senior year of college and graduated. In all this, finding my flow in my passions and life has been very difficult. However, I have pressed on thanks to God. My interests in art have changed drastically since my childhood, but I will still have child-like love for the media I associate it with.
