About

I'm a Texas veteran, originally hailing from Chicago. i brought my creative roots to the Dallas-Fort Worth area forty years ago, where I since established my studio and developed a distinct artistic voice. My professional journey in charcoal began at age 54, it has defined by a decade of rapid growth and disciplined mastery. Bringing a lifetime of experience to the drawing board. I utilize charcoal and pointillism to capture details with maturity and focus that can only be earned through time. My work proves that artistic passion doesn't have a deadline-it only gets richer with age. I'd never even considered that my passion for a such a medium as charcoal would be ignited by a 6-week course at TCC Fort Worth. I was hooked October 2014. I've been self taught since, As a U.S. Air Force veteran, I carry the values of discipline and integrity into my artistic practice. My current portfolio features a range of original drawings and high-quality prints, reflecting a decade of technical and a lifelong passion for visual storytelling.

Artist Statement

I find immense satisfaction in creating charcoal paintings. Because of the level of contact with paper that is allowed while using the medium. As well as the softness and vibrancy of the images that it can produce. From sketch out the images with a wick, to laying the first dark layers of charcoal down, smoothing it in to finally erasing... My instructor told me of an architect who would draw his plans up-side down (from bottom to top). So unlike other artists, this is how I start my paintings. Pictures with charcoal are beautiful and mesmerizing forms of artwork, due to the fascinating detail that is produced. My paintings reflect: life situations, children, heroes and ordinary objects. Please enjoy these paintings.
