Artist Statement
I find immense satisfaction in creating charcoal paintings. Because of the level of contact with paper that is allowed while using the medium. As well as the softness and vibrancy of the images that it can produce. From sketch out the images with a wick, to laying the first dark layers of charcoal down, smoothing it in to finally erasing...
My instructor told me of an architect who would draw his plans up-side down (from bottom to top). So unlike other artists, this is how I start my paintings.
Pictures with charcoal are beautiful and mesmerizing forms of artwork, due to the fascinating detail that is produced.
My paintings reflect: life situations, children, heroes and ordinary objects. Please enjoy these paintings.
