Artist Statement
I photograph what is overlooked in the modern urban landscape. The things
that make up the essence of a city, not just the gleaming skyscrapers and high rise luxury
apartments, but the areas that have been neglected or forgotten. That is until they are deemed
economically viable and worthy of “progress”. The pace of everyday life in our cities can be fast
and chaotic at times, so I utilize tripod bound analog medium and large format cameras and the
slow, deliberate pace they demand to create my photographs.
I photograph not only for documentation, but to deepen my connection to this place that I call
my home. This process is never ending, as there is always some new place to explore, a new
vantage point I haven’t used, a street I’ve never taken before.
