Artist Statement
My goal in creating is to bring joy to others. I strive to be a clear channel for whatever inspiration is being handed to me. I find that much of my work is created for a specific purpose or person, and I don’t find that out until later when that purpose or person comes along. This process brings me immense satisfaction and gives purpose to my work.
Nothing compares to the feeling of looking at something you made with your own two hands. Every pen or pencil mark, stitch, paint stroke, pastel smudge, etc. all come from me. I don’t use any digital aids or programs to create. In some ways this is difficult considering the age of technology and AI we live in. But I find motivation in knowing that what I create could have been done in any time period, connecting me to the traditions of my ancestors and keeping alive processes that are slowly being phased out.
