About

Monica Wayts is the artist behind Lil Bits of Mona, a Texas-based studio specializing in handcrafted string art and user-friendly DIY kits. After spending 12 years as an elementary teacher, she brought her love of creativity and hands-on learning into her art practice. Her work blends simple materials: wood, nails, and thread, into designs that celebrate play, patience, and the joy of making. Through her pieces and workshops, Mona invites people of all ages to slow down, connect, and experience the creative process.

Artist Statement

My work explores the beauty of simple materials and the quiet satisfaction of creating something by hand. Using wood, nails, and thread, I transform basic elements into designs that feel both structured and playful. As a former elementary teacher, I’ve always believed creativity should feel approachable rather than intimidating. String art allows people to see how small, repetitive actions: hammering a nail, wrapping a thread, can slowly build into something meaningful. Through my artwork and DIY kits, I hope to invite others into that experience. My goal isn’t just to display finished pieces, but to spark curiosity about the process itself and remind people that creativity can be accessible, calming, and joyful.
