Kat Renee is a fine artist working primarily in oil paints. She utilizes classical realism techniques to create imaginative still life stories. With a BA in Art and an MA in Theology, Kat Renee has studied a wide range of subjects, all of which inform her artwork and her message. Kat Renee likes to quote the words of John Lenon, "My role in society, or any artist's or poet's role, is to try and express what we all feel,” and the adapted mantra of Mexican poet Cesar A. Cruz, “Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable.”

Artist Statement

Kat Renee’s current work, titled "Tales of a Ragged Doll," is an ever-growing collection of paintings dedicated to the transcription of real-life experiences into visual stories. Using rag dolls as characters in these stories, she depicts each scene with specific detail and careful symbolism. Described as “deceptively whimsical” and “delightfully weird,” her style leans towards the macabre, personifying poetically gothic themes to juxtapose beauty with brokenness. She believes the ragged doll is a poignant representation of the lost, forgotten, hidden, and ignored truths buried within human circumstances and universal in human experience.
