Artist Statement

Kathryn Iklé (pronounced E-clay) is a Dallas-based multidisciplinary artist whose work spans textile and pattern design, acrylic painting, mixed media, printmaking, charcoal, and wearable art. With a background in design, innovation, and creative leadership, she brings a distinctive perspective that blends fine art, storytelling, and functional beauty. Her work is inspired by color, texture, memory, and transformation—often exploring how art can move beyond traditional boundaries into everyday life. Influenced by her family’s lace-making heritage, Kathryn has a deep appreciation for pattern, craftsmanship, and intricate detail. At the same time, her style is grounded in balance and restraint, often incorporating intentional white space that allows form, texture, and movement to breathe. This contrast between bold expression and quiet openness creates a sense of harmony within her compositions. Through layered surfaces, expressive mark-making, bold palettes, and handcrafted detail, Kathryn creates work that celebrates individuality, joy, and reinvention. She is especially known for transforming jackets and garments into one-of-a-kind wearable artworks that merge fashion and self-expression. Kathryn’s art has been recognized by Art & Color 365, CanvasRebel, Bold Journey, and all SHE makes magazine, and her work is held in permanent collections in Tennessee, New Hampshire, and Texas. Deeply engaged in the North Texas arts community, she is passionate about making art approachable, meaningful, and inspiring for all.
