About

For Mother's Day 2013, my youngest daughter gave me painting supplies and encouraged me to get back into art because I was going to miss her when she went off to college. I started painting and did a few exhibits at local galleries. That led to me making friends with photographers and buying a camera and trying my hand at that. I then opened my own gallery in Sanger, Texas where I represented other artists as well. One was a coppersmith and he asked me if I would like to learn. I took a few classes from him and he presented me with some of my own equipment and encouraged me to go off on my own. Then Covid hit and my gallery shut down. I had friends that encouraged me to move to the coast. Upon doing so, I had several artistic opportunities available to me. I practiced and refined my copper work drawing inspiration from the coastal lifestyle around me to shape my point of view.

Artist Statement

As an artist, I tend to draw inspiration from the land around me. I see the beauty in an abandoned well, a piece of sand, a damaged tree. I believe the world is a place of beauty and want to bring my interpretation of this for others to see. I try to capture beauty in rustic and abandoned places and want to seize moments in time before they are lost forever. I believe that by bringing attention to things that are often overlooked or taken for granted, others will have their minds opened and appreciate the special world they are surrounded by every day. I use an abstract approach to reach people, using titles that suggest to the viewer a natural object or place and hope that it lets them into my creative world.
