Artist Statement
I work in abstract ink and watercolor alongside handcrafted jewelry, using both as ways to explore composition, balance, and material. My paintings begin with loose washes and intuitive marks, where ink creates structure and watercolor introduces movement. I’m interested in letting forms emerge naturally rather than forcing an image.
Jewelry continues that same process in a different scale. Material choices such as stone, metal, texture, and spacing become the composition. I approach each piece the way I approach a painting, paying attention to contrast, irregularity, and small details that create presence.
I see jewelry as small sculpture and painting as expanded gesture. Each informs the other. The layering, contrast, and subtle irregularities that exist in my paintings reappear in the objects I create to be worn, allowing the work to move from wall to body while carrying the same visual language.
