Johnny Rutledge is a figurative and narrative driven printmaker. His works are meant to be accessible, using classical competitions and modern iconography. He often uplifts the working class while commenting on social issues. He’s an illustrator and video artist as well. As the lead visual creative with the nonprofit Artstillery he’s designed sets, projection mapped and helped capture the oral history of marginalized communities helping turn them into immersive performances.
Johnny also brings together artists for events called Art X Happens. It’s an open event for visual artists to bring work, discuss, and find mentors or collaborators for projects.
He has a BFA from UT Arlington in filmmaking and is a graduate of Book T. Washington High School Arts Magnet in Dallas, TX.
