Geneva Cole Binding is a small bookbinding practice based in the Dallas Fort Worth area, founded in June 2020. My work centers on creating handmade books using traditional binding methods such as Coptic Stitch binding. The exposed spine becomes part of the story, showing the thread and tension that hold everything together. Each book is bound by hand and wrapped in cotton fabric selected for texture, weight, and feeling. I think about how a book feels before it is opened. The cover sets the tone. The materials invite touch. Interior papers are chosen with intention. Watercolor, mixed media, sketch, or writing papers in lined, dot grid, or blank formats allow the book to support different creative practices. I consider the person who will hold it. The painter. The journal keeper. The one working through something quietly. My work is rooted in the belief that books are containers for memory, reflection, and healing. Through careful craftsmanship and material choices, I hope to create spaces that feel personal, grounding, and lasting.
