Artist Statement
We draw inspiration from theorists Deleuze and Guattari’s philosophy of the
rhizome, which rejects hierarchical and linear structures and instead focuses on
interconnected relationships between multiple points. Through this installation, we
explore the rhizome metaphor in botany and culture, and how it can help navigate a
deeper understanding of our interconnectedness.
By highlighting science and culture in plant stories connected to marginalized
perspectives, and Indigenous cultures, our installations celebrates the power of
rhizomatic thought to unite a myriad of living creatures in a shared understanding of
our world.
