About

Cindy Ingram is a Dallas-based mosaic and mixed media artist, writer, educator, and speaker whose work explores connection, identity, wonder, and the emotional experience of being human. Working primarily in stained glass mosaic, her narrative-driven pieces blend symbolism, curiosity, and visual storytelling to create work that feels both playful and deeply reflective. With a background spanning museums, education, and community arts spaces, Cindy has spent more than twenty years helping people connect more deeply with art and creativity. She is the founder of Art Class Curator, an arts education platform that has served more than 45,000 educators through curriculum, professional learning, and creative engagement resources. She is also the author of *Art Is About Being Whole: A Memoir* and the host of the *Wrecked by Art* podcast. Her artwork and writing are rooted in the belief that art can help us better understand ourselves, each other, and the strange beauty of being alive. Her work has been exhibited in regional exhibitions throughout Texas, with an upcoming solo exhibition at The Kemp Center for the Arts in Wichita Falls.

Artist Statement

My work explores connection, identity, emotional resonance, and the strange experience of being human. Working primarily in stained glass mosaic and mixed media, I create symbolic and emotionally driven pieces that combine curiosity, humor, vulnerability, and visual storytelling. Many of my works feature creatures, human figures, and imagined beings that act as emotional stand-ins—ways of exploring longing, wonder, disconnection, tenderness, fear, and belonging. I work intuitively, allowing materials and emotional associations to guide the process as a piece develops. I cut and arrange stained glass by hand and am drawn to the tension between fragility and durability in mosaic work—the way shattered pieces can be reassembled into something cohesive and alive. The physical process of piecing materials together mirrors the emotional themes within the work itself. My background in art history, museum education, and arts engagement deeply informs my practice. Symbols and recurring imagery such as aliens, animals, light, roots, and fragmented forms often appear as metaphors for emotional states and human experience. Ultimately, my work is an attempt to create moments of recognition—small reminders that even in our strangeness and longing, we are still connected to each other.
