Artist Statement
I create sculptural hollow forms that explore tension between natural growth and human intervention. Working with figured hardwoods—cedar, mesquite burl, walnut, pecan, and sycamore—I integrate resin as structural counterpoint rather than embellishment. The wood carries evidence of stress and survival; the resin becomes a seam, horizon, or fault line.
My forms prioritize silhouette, mass, and visual gravity over function. Scale, rim tension, and negative space shape the work’s presence. Color is deliberate—blues suggest depth and calm; reds and violets introduce pressure and energy. Each piece exists in the friction between organic history and engineered precision.
