About

I’m an educator, woman of faith, wife, mother, and grandmother. I’m a late in life creator relishing my newly found artistic side. I create from my home in the Red River Vally of North Texas, surrounded by natural beauty.

Artist Statement

My work is a celebration of the physicality of fiber. I am drawn to the slow, rhythmic transformation of raw materials into intricate textures through the traditional techniques of needle punching, rug hooking, and sewing. By focusing on the tactile quality of the handmade, I create pieces that invite a moment of pause and a closer look. Technique and Tactility I approach textile art as a marriage of structure and softness. My process is defined by the repetitive, meditative motion of the needle – a deliberate pace that allows for intuition and precision to coexist. Needle Punch & Rug Hooking: I use these methods to build sculptural dimension, creating a surface that plays with light and shadow through varying loop heights and tensions. Sewing: This is where the final character of a piece emerges. Every stitch is a visible record of the labor and care poured into the work. My process is slow and meditative. Whether I am hooking loops of wool or guiding a needle through linen, each piece is a record of time. “In a world that prioritizes speed, I choose the stitch. It is an act of resistance and a commitment to beaty that lasts.” The Integrity of Natural Fibers The choice of materials is the foundation of my practice. I work with natural fibers – wool, linen, and cotton – valuing their organic imperfections and the way they age over time. By working exclusively with natural fibers – wool, linen, and cotton – I honor the heritage of textile craft while ensuring my footprint remains light. “There is a profound honestly in natural materials. They possess a warmth and a sensory depth that synthetic fibers simply cannot replicate.” Artistic Intent My goal is to create art that is both beautiful and enduring; that feels organic and essential. I want to elevate “craft” into a fine art space while maintaining the approachability of textiles. Each piece is an exploration of color, weight, and the quiet power of a singular stitch; not just objects, they are woven stories of patience and the enduring beauty of the handmade.
