About

Hilary Lowry is a Texas-based artist working in stained glass, beaded sun catchers, and mixed-media jewelry. Her stained glass work incorporates both traditional leaded construction and copper foil techniques, allowing for designs that range from bold, structured forms to more intricate, detailed compositions. alongside her glass panels, she creates beaded sun catchers using glass crystal and natural stone beads. These pieces are designed to interact directly with light, casting shifting reflections that bring warmth and movement into everyday spaces. inspired by the transformative qualities of light and material, Lowry's work explores reflection, texture, and balance across mediums. In 2023, she was awarded place in leaded stained glass at the State Fair of Texas.

Artist Statement

I work with stained glass, crystal, and natural stone to explore the way light transforms both material and environment. Glass has a unique ability to capture and redirect light, creating movement and atmosphere that shifts throughout the day. My stained glass pieces are built using either leaded or copper foil techniques, allowing me to move between more structured graphic designs and more detailed, expressive forms. In contrast, my beaded sun catchers are more fluid and organic, composed of glass crystal and natural stone beads that scatter light into small, unexpected moments of color. Across all of my work, I am interested in creating pieces that feel both grounded and luminous. i'm drawn to the balance between precision and intuition, structure and movement. Whether it's a panel, a hanging piece or a wearable work, each piece is designed to interact with light in a way that bring subtle transformation into everyday spaces.
