Artist Statement
As a Mexican-American artist who grew up in the silence of a white-washed landscape, my music is an act of cultural reclamation and physical survival. Adopted into a home where my heritage was a blank space, I spent my youth navigating an 'empty feeling' that only sound could fill. For years, music was my secret escape, a private room where I could finally breathe.
Today, my professional practice is the bridge to the roots I was kept from and the body I fight for. Since my early 20s, I have lived with Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS), a chronic battle with pain that followed a childhood struggle with Rheumatoid Arthritis. By adapting my songwriting and rhyme-writing to my physical reality, I have developed a unique rhythmic language that honors my ancestry while embodying true resilience.
In a region where heritage is often taken for granted, I approach Mexican-American traditions as a 'Tradition Bearer by Choice.' My music, spanning from professional rhymes to digital production, is an invitation to others who feel culturally displaced or physically burdened to find their own pulse. I don’t just write music to be heard; I write to reconnect and endure, proving that both a lost heritage and a pained body can find power through the sound of music.
