I
Artist Statement
Through my work, I explore intimacy of the self through nature. I like to use the environment as a reflection of the tenderness, frustrations, and empowerment I experience as a queer woman. Surrounded by birds, gardens, trees, … I evoke how these living beings connect to our experiences of desire, isolation, and transformation . The body within these spaces is never separate from its surroundings; it is affected by them and grows alongside them, potentially even learning from them.
As a queer female artist, I search for balance within my work: pain that contains healing, beauty that holds discomfort, and connection that exists without declaration. My art does not attempt to resolve these contradictions, but to sit with them—to create space for viewers to recognize something familiar, even if it cannot be easily named.
