About

Carin Bernard is a Waterbury based artist specializing in realism and illustration. The decision to pursue art came after seeking relief from depression following the passing of her mother in 2010. She now uses her creations to both tell the story of her experiences and encourage peace, love and creativity in the process. Carin has created countless original paintings, instructed numerous paint parties, and has a published coloring book on Amazon. She now teaches Middle School art at Booker T. Washington Academy in Hamden, CT. Her mission is to guide the next generation of artists to their own success story

Artist Statement

The art I create ranges from realism to illustration and reinterprets various moments in my life, both positive and negative. Bright colors have become more of a necessity over the years because of how easily it can interpret emotions. Creating art was always more than a “me” thing. While the act of creating art is a benefit to my mental health, the end product is for the viewer to be inspired by the work in a positive way. I also have the ability to share the mental health benefits with others by instructing paint parties. All people need a space to be vulnerable and express in a healthy way. Sharing and teach art within the community has become the biggest joy in my life.
