Artist Statement
Bureau of Print is the solo studio of Milwaukee-based artist Francisco Ramirez. Rooted in the Midwest DIY punk scene, Francisco has over 30 years of experience creating and performing music, which informs his bold, hand-pulled screen prints. He holds a BA in Art & Design with a minor in Art History from Columbia College Chicago. His work draws from 1960s Minimalism, the graphic punch of Frank Kozik, and the raw collage style of Art Chantry, resulting in layered fields of texture, illustration, and visual noise. In addition to his studio practice, Francisco teaches as a relief instructor in local schools and serves on the board of the Poster Institute, organizing Flatstock exhibitions across the U.S., Mexico, and Europe.
