About

Najeeb is a Dallas-based cellist, singer-songwriter, Certified Mindfulness Facilitator, and former U.S. Ambassador of Music originally from New Orleans. Drawing from the deep wells of soulful storytelling, classical cello, and mindful presence, he creates intimate, meditative musical experiences that invite audiences to slow down, listen deeply, and reconnect with themselves. As co-leader of Dos Nanes — a cross-cultural duo with Colombian percussionist Nestor Mercado-Garcia — Najeeb also explores the vibrant intersections of Afro-Latin and American musical traditions. A teaching artist with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra’s Young Musicians program, he brings the same intention and care to the stage that he brings to the classroom — meeting people exactly where they are, one note at a time.

Artist Statement

I create music that invites people to feel before they think. Rooted in the soulful traditions of New Orleans and shaped by years of mindfulness practice, my work as a cellist, singer-songwriter, and cultural collaborator is driven by one simple belief — that music is one of the most powerful tools we have for healing, connection, and truth-telling. From intimate solo performances as Brother Cello to the cross-cultural conversations of Dos Nanes, I am always in pursuit of the moment when sound becomes something more than sound — when it becomes a shared experience that reminds us of our common humanity.
