Artist Statement
My work is an exploration of identity, culture, and heritage through the lens of my Afrocentric, Afro-Latin, and Puerto Rican roots. As a bi-racial artist, I create to honor the complexity of race and ethnicity in my life, embracing both the beauty and the struggle of belonging to multiple worlds. Each piece reflects my journey of discovery, reclaiming stories of resilience, rhythm, and ancestral pride.
Through bold color, layered textures, and cultural symbolism, I aim to celebrate the richness of Afro-Latin and Puerto Rican traditions while also confronting questions of visibility and representation. My art is not only personal but communal, a way of connecting with others who share these intertwined identities, and a way of offering visibility to histories too often overlooked.
