Joanie Nerrettig

I bought my first guitar for $20 in a pawn shop at 18 while in rehab, and after learning “House of the Rising Sun,” I immediately began writing my own songs. Years spent in New York and Southern California shaped my voice, giving my music the experiences, honesty, and emotion that continue to guide me. In 2017, I formed The Joanitones, a four-piece original music band that performed my songs for nearly seven years. Since then, I’ve explored new creative paths—from meditative guitar-harmonic work to experimenting with gospel influences—always staying open to growth. Songwriting workshops, recovery, and life itself keep expanding my craft. I’m a continual-growth writer, and I’ve got stories worth sharing.
